M-BANKING APPLICATION

Introduction

In its bid to keep up with the changing times and to remain competitive and relevant, the Sacco has endeavored throughout the years, to introduce new products and services to satisfy its customers’ needs. First came the SaccoLink ATM cards, with functionalities that allowed withdrawals, account balances inquiries and mini statements print outs. With the ATM Cards, members are able to access their money wherever they are. Other functionalities that were later added allowed for customers to be able to make utility payments i.e. pay their KPLC bills among others.

M-Banking

The m-banking takes convenience to a new level. In this sense, customers can access their account balances, mini statements, withdraw money into their M-Pesa accounts, and make utility payments among other applications using their mobile phones. A large percentage of people have a mobile phone and utilizing this technology to increase customers’ convenience will obviously give the Sacco the much needed competitive advantage.

M-Banking Application Procedures

  1. Customer walks into the Sacco
  2. Customer applies for the m-banking service against his/her account by filling the m-banking application form (see attached).
  3. Customer submits the completed m-banking application forms to the designated person at the branch.
  4. This will then be forwarded to the E-Banking Section where designated Maker verifies the account signing instructions, the customer name and the signature on the Sacco system against the application form submitted by the customer, flags and register’s the customer in the WAPTX system.
  5. The Maker the forwards the application form to the Checker (also designated by the Sacco) for checking.
  6. The Checker will then verify all the registered customers on the system against the application form and check any amendments/addition of telephone numbers.
  7. The Checker will confirm the signatures and the signing instructions of the account against which the subscription has been made on the Sacco system and ensure that all registered customers have signed the m-banking application form and all changes made in the system were requested by the customer.
  8. The customer will then receive his/her PIN number and the instructions on how to use the m-banking facility.
  9. The Sacco will then archive the documents for future reference.

M-Banking Menu

Once registered, the customer will dial *667# to get a menu that will have the following items:

1. Banking
0. Call Center Number
By selecting any of the above number, the customer will be provided with a list of activities or transactions that he/she can do and instructions on how to go about it. To be registered for the m-banking service, the member has to have a SaccoLink ATM Card.
